Standing in Darkness

Keep your mouth shut when told not to speak about your Faith in God.

Deny Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior when confronted about who you serve.

Do not spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that you will not be persecuted.

Daniel stood up for His faith in God despite being told to pray to the King of the land and no other God and was thrown into the lion’s den.  God was with him and shut the mouths of the lions and delivered Daniel.

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego stood up for their Faith in God when told to bow down to a false God (idol) and they were thrown into a fiery furnace to be burned alive. God was with them in the furnace and delivered them unharmed.

Peter & John were arrested for preaching the Gospel and told to keep their mouths shut, but their response was “We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29) They continued to preach and many came to salvation because of the power of God and the faith of God in their lives.  They learned to fear God rather than man.

In the days of old, man was told not to serve the ONE true God or suffer the consequences.  In many nations this continues to stand but in some nations we have had the freedom of speech and religion.  We are now living in a day where laws and rules are changing across the land to keep our mouths shut, to not spread the Gospel, to deny Christ, and to not speak His name.  What will you do when you are confronted?  Will you stay silent?  Or will you be a Peter, a Daniel, a true man or woman of Faith who will speak the name above every name no matter the cost?

2 Timothy 2:11-12

11 This is a faithful saying:

For if we died with Him,
We shall also live with Him.
12 If we endure,
We shall also reign with Him.
If we deny Him,
He also will deny us.

Through with You!

He’s a liar; he’s a cheater, poison drips from his teeth
Can’t trust him, can’t stand him, so full of deceit
His eyes are like fire, full of lust and disdain
His heart so callous, bringing heartache and pain
So abusive and hurtful I was finally through

Well, I found someone New who’s honest and true
He captured my heart “Oh what could I do?”
He’s big and He’s strong yet gentle and pure
Oh what a love that can only endure
He said He’d protect me and won’t leave my side
So now I had to confront the other guy

“Satan, I thought you knew that I was through
Now I’m here to tell you, to Hell with you!”

My Savior and King!

He was born in a Manger
To have and to hold
His life much more precious
Than silver or gold
When lo and behold
What a beautiful sight
To all those who traveled
Both day and night
He established His Kingdom
In Heaven and Earth
The greatest gift
His amazing birth!

Who would have known
My Savior and King
The joy of your Salvation
Would make my heart sing
A love so pure
For the world to receive
Yet rejected by many
For they are deceived

Open your heart
And in Him believe
Then turn from your sin
And start living for Him
Jesus was sent
For you and for me
So we could have life
And more abundantly!

Broken Men

Today as I was pumping gas into my car, two men approached me, seemingly intoxicated.  Roland first walked up and completely startled me.  He asked for some change as he stepped a little closer, saying he needed money to get a hotel room for the night.  He explained he had nowhere to go and how he was having a hard time with work and finances.  Standing on alert, I looked him straight in the eyes, knowing he was not being very honest with me.  Asking him to please wait where he was at, I went around to the driver’s side of my car and grabbed the only change I had in my wallet.  Then I grabbed one of the tracks I keep in my car “Finding Peace with God”.  As I handed him the change he thanked me, then I handed him the tracks.  He looked puzzled and asked what the tracks were for.

I began to witness to him about God’s love and why He sent His only Son Jesus to die on the cross for us while we were still sinners.  I continued to explain how God wants us to come to Him just as we are not when our lives are perfect or cleaned up or else no one would ever receive His love and forgiveness because not one person is perfect.  Roland became convicted as I shared with him and confessed to me he only asked for money to buy booze so he can get drunk with his buddy.  He went on to explain how his life was so messed up and that although he didn’t want to hear what I shared, he was glad because he said he needed it.  At that moment I was lead to pray for him.  Lifting his hand to his chest, he gasped “You want to pray for me?!” He was quite shocked and couldn’t believe I was willing to pray with him.  He began to remove his hat and glasses, then bowed his head and closed his eyes.  His buddy Curtis finally approached us as he was watching from a distance.  He too heard the message about God’s love that day.

To some people Roland and Curtis could be viewed as drunks, liars and thieves.  But to God they are broken unsaved men who desperately need a Savior.  It’s His love that pierces the hearts of man.  It’s His love that covers a multitude of sin.  It’s His love that sets us free from condemnation.  It’s by His love that we can walk and live a victorious life in Him!

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”  John 3:16

My First Love

What happened between us?  We were so intimate and close.  Our love and relationship was strong.  We were as one.  You said you wanted to spend the rest of your life with me.  Didn’t I love you enough?  Didn’t I show you how much I care?  I thought you trusted me, gave your heart to me.

Did you really love me?  Wasn’t I enough for you?

You shared your dreams with me, your ambitions, your heart and your passion with me.  When you spoke I listened, but you also let me speak, while you listened.  Our communication made us strong.  All those long walks and conversations we had were so special.  I loved it when you danced with me, especially when you sang to me.  The sound of your voice was so tender and sweet because they were love songs made just for me.  We shared every waking moment together, just you and I.

You had such a willingness and openness to do new things.  What fun and adventure we had together.  The joys and the sorrows.

Now I hardly hear from you.  You visit randomly.  Barely say a word.  You seem to come around for a short time and then you’re gone. What is it that stole you away from me? Is it your job, your family, circumstances or is there another one who’s captured your heart?

Wasn’t I there for you?  To listen to you?  To hold you?  To comfort you?  Didn’t I accept you despite your past and all your pain?

I wanted the best for you and thought I gave you my best.

You see, I desire a relationship that will last, a relationship that will endure, and a relationship that never gives up.  No more one night affairs.  I’m very jealous and don’t want anything or anyone to get in between us.

I still love you and will never stop loving you.  You still hold a special place in my heart.  If you ever decide to come back, I’m ready and willing to receive you with open arms.”

Come back…

I miss you…

Your First Love,

Have you forgotten your “First Love”? He’s waiting for you!

Center of My Life

I have found so much satisfaction and joy in walking with the Lord –

Until we step out of our comfort zone, we will never experience “All” that God has for us.

He must become the “Center of our lives”.

I love the words of this song from Hillsong:

Let my walk speak loud
And my words be true
Let my life be whole
With my eyes on you
Lord I’m stepping out
From the comfort zone
Letting go of me,
Holding onto You

Freedom comes
When I call You Lord
You are Lord my God

You are the centre of it all,
The universe declares in awe
Your majesty
I surrender all
I make you
The centre of my life
Lord, I respond with all I am
you placed in me the song
Of heavens melody
Your Majesty
I live to sing Your song

I have found Your peace
It replaces any fear
You have done it all
I can trust in you
So I’m stepping out
From the comfort zone
Letting go of me
Holding onto you

This is your song, not mine
It is your song that brings healing to this land
This is your song, not mine
It is your song that brings freedom
Freedom comes, when I call you Lord
Freedom comes, when I call you Lord
You are Lord, my God
You are the song
You are the majesty
I live to sing your song
Your majesty
I live to sing Your song

My heart’s desire

“Fulfillment” resonates with me.  Because I desire to live the abundant life God has called me to live and to function in my gifting, my calling.  I desire to teach and show others that they too can live the abundant life God has planned for them and show them how to get there.

Growing up a very shy and wounded person, I never spoke to anyone and if I did it was a mere few words.  One day I cried out to God to free me from this bondage. I didn’t want to be quiet!  I didn’t want to be the one who had nothing to say, yet I was so full of things I wished I said. I was looked upon as conceited when I was actually just afraid and fearful.  I didn’t realize it was the “enemy” of my soul who wanted my mouth to be shut.  He knew I’d be a powerful tool for the Lord, but I didn’t.  The enemy’s plan is to keep us Quiet!  When God began to speak to me through His Holy Spirit, things began to change. I began to yield myself and step out in Faith as never before.  Although I was still afraid, I just began to trust that my Father knew best and had already planned out my life before time.  God knew the plans He had for me, and wanted me to come to the understanding and belief of what that was and to walk in it.

Well people, I’m silent no more!  That is broken off my life and I intend to open my mouth and let God fill it!  What others are struggling in or captive in, I want to show them there is more to their life!  So much more!

I love Isaiah 61:1-3 –

“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me,
because the Lord has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted,
to proclaim freedom for the captives
and release from darkness for the prisoners,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor
and the day of vengeance of our God,
to comfort all who mourn,
3 and provide for those who grieve in Zion—
to bestow on them a crown of beauty
instead of ashes,
the oil of joy
instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise
instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord
for the display of his splendor.”
